Alan Brown Paintings

Biography
Alan Brown was born in Yorkshire and brought up and educated in York. He studied art at A level and then read Economics at Lancaster University.
Alan has always had a strong interest in art and returned to painting in his early forties taking up watercolour. He has now been painting for over 20 years in watercolours and also more recently in oils and acrylics.
Alan’s main inspiration is the countryside, sea and boats, as well as people in urban settings and interiors. He is drawn to a loose, free interpretation of his chosen subjects which go beyond simple literal presentations and which try to capture mood and atmosphere - light, reflections, movement or colour, and his subjects are generally those which have strong appeal either from travelling, walking or just observing people.
Alan is a member of the North Weald Art Group, the Eland Art Club and the Civil and Public Service Artists. He lives in Reigate, Surrey.
